Well my tbird was in the dealers to get two new tyres fitted, which I knew was gonna cost a few bob, but I ended up spending a lot more.

It's the waiting around, had a coffee, spotted the new Commander which had just arrived recently.

So to fill in time I had a good look around, then a sit on it, damn these new seats are very comfortable. Some things I like a lot on the new version, some I'm not so sure on.

Anyway, the salesman wanders over and asks if I'm interested. Well I might be, depends what I get offered on mine, i.e. what it would cost me.

No problem he can get an appraisal done as my bike is in the workshop. OK can't hurt to find out can it?

First offer they came up with would leave me just short of GBP8000.00 to pay on top of the part-ex. Hmm, bit much says me. I'd been considering going to a newer bike but had looking at about maybe paying 6k.

What about lease hire they say? Looking at the details this is not a good option unless you were going to take out HP anyway. Total cost would have been 10k over 3 years plus next upgrade would be a bigger deposit, no bike to part ex, plus bigger payments. No thanks.

I might go for it if you can bring it in for 6-7k. So the sales guy goes to see what he can work out.

So he comes back after a short while, after working out what it cost them and what it would cost to put a new one on the road.

My bike @20000 miles on the clock + GBP 6750.00. That's GBP 12500.00 on the road so it's not a bad deal.

Damn, hmm, temptation.

OK, so I'm weak, new crimson sunset/lave red tbird commander ordered, comes in about two weeks.

Now I'm getting a wee bit excited.

2011 3 years old in April.

I'd been thinking about it anyway. Maybe this is a better time to get a good deal, when they're not selling so many bikes as opposed to the start of next year when everyone else is tempted to start the riding season on a new bike.

Good on you Steve! Enjoy your new bike, and make sure you post some pictures.

Unfortunately swmbo, has let me buy my current SE (2010) on the proviso that it is the last new bike I buy, so it is now set up how I want it for the indefinite future! What she hasn't worked out yet is, she never said anything about second hand, and I have been looking into something like the previous thunderbird sport, any thoughts anybody?
